So yeah i've been thinking about trying to write some personal tips on how to become a better artist for abit now.
Being sincere, i still believe i have along way to go to reach and also am not eligible to give such tips, but thought that it might clarify a few things for myself first and help others out there as well
And mostly these tips are for fine arts in general and a few types of illustrations.

1 - TAKE RISK: cannot express how important it is, if i can summarize all the tips in one, it would be that one. Think about it, you play all your life safe, you do what you are customed  to do, you live in the same repeating cycle. and when it comes to art, we usually do the same thing. We do what we are good at, so if we are good at drawing realism we stick to it. Taking risks is a major MAJOR step in becoming a better artist, in taking risks you'll discover new things, you;'' surprise yourself, you'll understand better the medium and its capacity.

2- Make Mistakes:  and enjoy them :D do not get frustrated if you screw up a painting or a drawing, you need to screw up a huge number of works before you actually become satisfied with the work you have. i Still do that, for every work i upload, i have another that i threw away. So yeah make mistakes, you'll discover some of the beautiful things in mistakes, A large number of my favorite works were by pure mistake.

3- Do not Try to Master the Medium: yeah i probably heard that alot, that you need to actually master the medium before you become successful in it. Well maybe for illustrations or realism or hyper realism. But for any other type, you do not need to master the medium. you only need to understand how that medium work and its capacity. And how boring will it be if you actually no longer discover new things in it, or surprise yourself you'll be like doing teh same thing again and again. And i usually get bored really easliy, thats why i try always to find new things, do new studies, discover new things.

4- Surprise yourself: this is actually the result of 1,2 and 3. And it is the most beautiful thing for me still at that moment. you know like "waw i didnt see taht coming, or i didnt knew this would come", And the ting that will keep u on coming back for more

5-Do it for yourself and screw everyone else: yeah just do it for yourself, not for anyone, not for becoming a great artist, just do it for yourself, for becoming a better person for finding your own voice.

6- Do not try to copy other artists: it is vry natural to be influenced by other styles, and other artists. but do not try to copy them or their styles.  You'll never be able to actually copy their style, it is their style, a style they perfected over the years and it is something that represents them. Plus your style once you actually discover it, will be much way more interesting for you.

7- Go to museums: yeah bcs seeing something in the museum or in an exhibition is a lot much more different than seeing it on your screen. The texture, the strokes, the colors are all very different. So yeah attend museums and exhibitions as much as possible.

8- Read: for me they go side by side, reading and art. And sometimes, when am feeling really down, i just grab a book (mostly philosophy) and start reading. As soon as i start reading and in most philosophy books, art stands at the highest degree of freedom and respect. At that point i re-realize why ive been doing art.

And yeah some good technical tips, some actually useful ones :P :
-splashes makes everything much cooler, much alive and much beautiful. So splash everything :P
-stop what youre doing from time to time leave it aside then come back to it at a future time, you'll see it in a fresh perspective and see things differently.
-And If you are not that patient - i am not as well :p - try to rotate the work in different degree, step away from the work squint your eyes and look at it or simply hold it in front                 of a mirror
-Do not overdo your work,. Number one mistake most beginners make, they overdo their work and end up by screwing them. you do need to spend countless hours on a                 certain work, sometimes the most beautiful works are some of the most simple ones.

And if you work hard and constantly, take risks and try other other mediums, discover new things and stuff, you''ll eventually discover your style. Discovering yourself, understand better yourself and the world around you. .

Quoting  "Dead poets society" which i believe apply for art in general:

“WE DON’T READ AND WRITE POETRY BECAUSE IT’S CUTE. WE READ AND WRITE POETRY BECAUSE WE ARE MEMBERS OF THE HUMAN RACE. AND THE HUMAN RACE IS FILLED WITH PASSION. AND MEDICINE, LAW, BUSINESS, ENGINEERING, THESE ARE NOBLE PURSUITS AND NECESSARY TO SUSTAIN LIFE. BUT POETRY, BEAUTY, ROMANCE, LOVE, THESE ARE WHAT WE STAY ALIVE FOR

TO QUOTE FROM WHITMAN, ‘O ME! O LIFE!… OF THE QUESTIONS OF THESE RECURRING; OF THE ENDLESS TRAINS OF THE FAITHLESS… OF CITIES FILLED WITH THE FOOLISH; WHAT GOOD AMID THESE, O ME, O LIFE?’ ANSWER. THAT YOU ARE HERE — THAT LIFE EXISTS, AND IDENTITY; THAT THE POWERFUL PLAY GOES ON AND YOU MAY CONTRIBUTE A VERSE. THAT THE POWERFUL PLAY GOES ON AND YOU MAY CONTRIBUTE A VERSE. WHAT WILL YOUR VERSE BE?”

thanks everyone for going through that boring text

again many Thanks,
Michel

honestly speaking  i had no idea what anime or manga art is, nor this little pony show thing when i first joined deviantart.
now weirdly speaking i know alot about manga and anime thing and a major idea about this little pony thing.
I can definitely not relate to MLP thing nor can i to the majority of manga / anime art, however there are very few manga art things that are truly sensational and amazing.

So i was just wondering why is it that manga / anime art thing is so popular on deviant.
Like go now to the front page or the traditional section (of course not the manga/anime section :P) and count the actual number of manga anime art, it is quite surprising  to this type of art how dominant it is.
